An Introduction

The more people I talk to, the more I’m reminded how many want to change their lives in some way.

However, I know from experience change isn’t a one-time event, it’s a series of decisions and actions taken over time, that leads us to the change we seek.

But how do we identify what those decisions and action need to be?

One effective way is to connect with people on the same journey, either through books, in conversation, or wherever you go for inspiration.

We become like those we spend the most time with, so it’s important to make sure we surround ourselves with people on a similar path.

It’s here we can connect with, and support each other, which also has the potential to increase our own chances of finding the change we are seeking.

And if you can add to this the daily practice of doing something more confidently today, than you did yesterday, you have a simple and powerful recipe for change.

When you help others reach their full potential, you also add to the potential of your own success.

As I help others…so I help myself.

But first you have to look at where you are in your life right now, and then picture how you would like your future to unfold.

This is what this course is designed to do.

Core shamanism is a philosophy, and spiritual tradition to help you live in harmony with the natural world, and it is based on a framework of agreements evolved from ancient times to help you put it into practice.

It is a practice, as is yoga, as is meditation. The more you do it, the more skilled you become, and the more you will get out of it as you continue to apply it to your daily life.

Shamanism is a way of thinking and being, and it has a different meaning for each of us. It’s about learning to be aware of the world around you, and developing a greater understanding of what it represents, and means to you.

We thank Michael Harner, Ph.D, the renowned anthropologist, for his inspired thinking over the past six decades, because he has evolved a way of being, that is appropriate to the needs of the Western World in the 21st Century.

He then applied those findings to a training course consisting of ten modules, and called it Core Shamanism. Each advancing your understanding of the principles, and how to apply them in your own life.

The Foundation for Shamanic Studies, in San Francisco, is dedicated to the preservation, study, and teaching of this shamanic knowledge, and makes it available to others, to assist with the welfare of the planet and its people.

If you are interested in learning more about its teachings, and the course he created, see below.

It roughly breaks down into two parts: The Knowledge Series, which defines the basic teachings, and The Healing Series, which shows you how to apply it in a practical way to an effective shamanic healing practice.
