7. Shamanic Psychopomp Day 1

The Shaman as Psychopomp

Foundation for Shamanic Studies
Faculty Member: Mora File

DETAILS & REGISTRATION

The time between birth and death, is the time we shine our light on all the things we bring into this world to enrich not only ourselves, but also the lives of others.

How we came to be here is a mystery, and how we move on from this life is also a mystery.

But in Western culture moving on to the great mystery tends to be less than magical.

It’s often shrouded in solemnity, and loss, when it could be all embracing, and about moving towards the light in celebration.

Shamanism is concerned with the human soul, with healing during life, and assisting the soul's passage out of the Middle World as it continues on its journey.

A CONDUCTOR OF SOULS

Shamanism can act as: psychopomp, which roughly translates to ‘a conductor of souls.’

A shamanic practitioner is able to guide the soul of a deceased person out of the Middle World to a place where it can receive help in taking the next step.

In this module you will learn what happens to human souls from the core shamanic perspective after it leave the body.

There will also be opportunities to practice how to help the souls of the deceased move from the Middle World to a better place.

GUIDING SOULS TO A BETTER PLACE

And also, how to find a soul in the Middle World that may be stuck, and in need of help. However, in order to do this, we first must obtain the soul's permission to offer shamanic assistance, which we will cover in detail.

You will learn how to guide the soul to a place in the Upper or Lower World, where it will be assisted further on its journey.

As we build power and understanding through our deepening practices, the work of Psychopomp becomes a significant part of your Shamanism practice.
