Core shamanism study guide
I'm often asked: How can I learn more about Core Shamanism?
Here's what I recommend:
Read Michael Harner's books: The Way of the Shaman and Cave & Cosmos: Encounters with Another Reality, which are great places to start. Both are available, along with others, on the Foundation website. (10% discount if you are a member - See details & link below)
Take a workshop on shamanism: Participate in workshops led by experienced shamanic practitioners to gain hands-on experience and guidance in core shamanic techniques. The Foundation for Shamanic Studies can guide you, or you can connect with me through the contact page of my website.
Practice Journeying: Once you have taken a workshop, practice shamanic journeying regularly to explore altered states of consciousness, connect with your helping spirit, and gain insights.
Join a group of shamanic practitioners: Ask questions and learn from others on similar paths. (Consider my monthly Drumming Circles and Healing Circles. Details at: theshamansmirror.com)
Develop a personal practice: Create rituals incorporating shamanic elements to create a deeper connection to your individual practice.
Explore different cultural perspectives: Study various shamanic traditions to understand the diversity within Core Shamanism and deepen your appreciation for them.
Meditation and mindfulness: Create a meditation practice to increase focus and receptivity during shamanic work.
Document your experiences: Keep a journal of your journeys, insights, and personal growth, and reflect on your findings often.
Find a mentor: Find a mentor or teacher who can provide personalized guidance as you deepen your shamanic practices. (Contact me at: theshamansmirror.com)
Experience nature and animal spirits: Learn about the natural world and animal symbolism to enhance your understanding of shamanic medicine and how to use it.
Reflect on your own life experiences: Make a habit of reflecting on how shamanic practices are influencing your life, the decisions you make, and your expectations for the future.
